PASTOR'S CORNER
Dear BF Family
What an unlikely pathway to Prime Minister! Joseph's story is so illogical that I doubt that even Hollywood would have bought the script except it was actually true. With twists and turns, the plot of Joseph's rise to leadership is filled with suspense and remarkable redemption.
Take a quick glance at the story:
- As the father's favourite he evoked the jealousy of his older brothers
- In a fit of rage the siblings tossed him into a pit, then sold him into slavery
- Purchased from the slave market by one of Pharaoh's generals Potiphar, he was promoted within the household
- Potiphar's wife attempts to seduce him, but he escapes her clutches but not her anger
- Falsely accused of attempted rape - he is thrown into prison
- Within prison he is again given great favour with the staff
- After correctly interpreting 2 dreams, his hope for release are dashed and he spends 2 more long years in the dungeon.
- Remember as the "dream interpreter" he is immediately released and finds himself standing before Pharaoh!
- After telling the meanings of Pharaohs troubling dreams he is promoted to Prime Minister of Egypt!
From favouritism and privilege to the pit, then prison and eventually the palace, Joseph's story reminds us that no matter how dark our days may seem, God is always at work to "...bring all things together for the ones who love Him and are called according to His purposes."
Trust, rest, be confident ... God is certainly at work in your life!
